Tog Ratings
A 'tog' is the UK industry standard name used to determine the warmth of a duvet. The higher the tog rating or tog value which the term is sometimes refered to, the warmer the duvet.
Togs are measured in units of thermal resistance. For example, if a Goose down or any other type of filled duvet has a tog rating of 4.5 then it would be more likely be used in the summer months. At the higher end of the scale, a 13.5 tog rated duvet would generally be used in the colder months of the year.

The weight of a duvet depends on the filling inside. Duvets with an identical tog rating can vary in actual weight though should provide the same warmth. Down filled duvets are known to be lighter than man-made duvets. This is because the fill power of down is greater than feather or synthetic fills.
